A Shopify theme for a clothing store is a Theme Store theme whose layouts are built around how people buy apparel: big lifestyle imagery, outfit or lookbook sections, colour and size variants that are easy to pick, and filters that work across large collections. Every theme below was re-checked on the Shopify Theme Store on 7 October 2026 for price, developer, review score and the number of presets, and every store example was confirmed to still run the theme we name.
This guide replaces our March 2026 version. That version included a "performance comparison" table with per-theme conversion rates, mobile scores and load times. We could not trace those numbers to any measurement we can show you, so they are gone. Three themes are gone too: Shine and Urban are still on sale, but their developers now pitch them for skincare and furniture, and Colorblock has 7 reviews at 43% positive. We also dropped the ThemeForest list because we could not re-check those prices and support terms today.
Key takeaways
- Blum ($170, 99% positive across 261 reviews) is the only theme in this list its developer describes as an "editorial fashion theme". It is the best starting point for a DTC apparel brand.
- Impulse ($500) and Prestige ($400) have the most reviews of the fashion-fit paid themes: 1,302 and 869.
- Free themes from Shopify score far lower with merchants: Horizon and Dawn are both 35% positive, Origin is 45%.
- Check a theme on a real store before you buy. Our Shopify theme detector tells you which theme any store runs.

What makes a clothing theme different from a general theme?
Any of the best Shopify themes can sell a T-shirt. The difference shows up on the pages where apparel shoppers make up their minds. Look for these when you open a theme demo:

- Variant swatches. Colour swatches on the product card and the product page, so shoppers see the colourway without opening a new page.
- A size guide that sits next to the size picker. If the theme has none, you can add one; our Shopify size chart guide covers the options.
- Shop-the-look or lookbook sections. Blum calls this "hotspot-enabled sections", Viola calls it a lookbook. Both let one photo sell several products.
- Collection filters that scale. Size, colour and price filters matter once you pass a few dozen products. See how strong Shopify collection pages handle this.
- A sticky or always-visible add-to-cart on mobile. If the theme does not ship one, here is how to add a sticky add to cart on Shopify.
Before you buy, click Try theme on the Theme Store listing and try moving a section on the product page. If you are comparing older and newer themes, our explainer on Shopify 2.0 themes covers what changed.
Paid Shopify themes for clothing stores
1. Blum: the one built for fashion first

Price: $170 · Developer: eComX · Reviews: 99% positive, 261 · Presets: 5
Blum's own listing calls it "the editorial fashion theme". It is built around lifestyle photography: hotspot sections that tag products inside a photo, outfit-building collections, "product siblings" that link colourways as separate products, and more than 30 pre-built sections. At $170 it is also the cheapest paid theme here with fashion as its stated focus.
Pick it if: you sell your own apparel brand direct to consumers and your photos do the selling. Try Blum on your store.
Stores running Blum today: Saya The Label and Woolf

Saya The Label opens on a single full-bleed campaign image with one short line of copy and a "Shop All" link. There is no slider and no banner stack, which is the editorial layout Blum is designed for.

Woolf uses the same theme very differently: a rotating announcement bar ("Wear Test it for 30 days. Keep it forever") above a dark outdoor hero. Woolf appeared in our March list as a Shine store; it has since moved to Blum.
2. Impulse: the most-reviewed fashion theme here
Price: $500 · Developer: Archetype Themes · Reviews: 94% positive, 1,302 · Presets: 4
Impulse names "fashion and apparel" directly in its listing. Its signature is a shoppable hero image, so the first screen can link straight to products, plus sale banners and testimonial sections for promotion-heavy calendars. With 1,302 reviews it has the largest track record of any theme in this guide.
Pick it if: you run frequent drops and sales and want a theme many other apparel stores have already stress-tested.
3. Prestige: for premium and luxury labels
Price: $400 · Developer: Maestrooo · Reviews: 91% positive, 869 · Presets: 5
Prestige is positioned for "premium, high-end brand appeal". It ships 30+ configurable sections and its listing stresses performance and accessibility. The look is restrained: lots of space, large type, few colours.
Pick it if: your price point is high and the store has to feel like a boutique, not a sale rack.
4. Cascade: for image-led catalogues

Price: $360 · Developer: Switch · Reviews: 98% positive, 100 · Presets: 4
Cascade is designed to "visually flow" as visitors scroll, with multiple product templates and text-friendly layouts for brand storytelling.
Store running Cascade today: Scarlet & Sam

Scarlet & Sam puts two product photos side by side as the hero (the same jacket on a hanger and worn), then goes straight into a "New Additions" product row with "New arrival" labels. It is a good model for a small label that releases in drops.
5. Space: for stores that want fewer apps

Price: $320 · Developer: Brickspace Lab · Reviews: 96% positive, 23 · Presets: 5
Space's pitch is "replace apps and save money": promotions and upsell features are built in, and the listing says it was built with performance in mind. The review count is still small, so read the latest reviews before buying.
6. Retina: for a polished boutique look

Price: $220 · Developer: Out of the Sandbox · Reviews: 96% positive, 295 · Presets: 4
Retina is aimed at "high-end retailers" and leans on testimonial sections and featured-product callouts to build trust.
Store running Retina today: Endless August Supply Co.

Endless August sells outdoor-lifestyle hats and apparel. Its homepage uses a free-shipping bar ("Free shipping on orders $35+"), a short menu (New, Stickers, Hats, About, Wholesale) and a full-width lifestyle photo.
7. Amber: simple setup with upsells

Price: $220 · Developer: BigStart · Reviews: 100% positive, 11 · Presets: 3
Amber focuses on easy brand customisation and includes upsell options. It is a general theme rather than a fashion-specific one, and 11 reviews is a thin record, so treat the 100% score with care.
8. Viola: lookbook and filtering on a budget

Price: $210 · Developer: Webibazaar Templates · Reviews: 100% positive, 94 · Presets: 5
Viola costs $40 more than Blum and is not pitched at fashion specifically, but it lists a lookbook (products shown "in action" with click-through) plus multiple product page layouts and advanced filtering, three features clothing stores use a lot.
Free Shopify themes for clothing stores
Shopify's own free themes cost nothing and are maintained by Shopify, but merchants rate them much lower than the paid themes above. If you start free, plan to add the clothing features yourself. Our list of best free Shopify themes covers the full set.
Horizon (free)
Reviews: 35% positive, 208. Horizon is Shopify's newer theme family, built on nested theme blocks with large product cards. We cover it in depth in our Shopify Horizon theme review.
Dawn (free)

Reviews: 35% positive, 288. Dawn is minimalist and puts large product images first. Its Theme Store listing does not mention a lookbook or shop-the-look section, so plan to add those with an app or a page builder.
Origin (free)

Reviews: 45% positive, 22. Shopify describes Origin as a theme "for makers selling unique pieces", so it suits small-batch or handmade clothing more than a large catalogue.
How to check which theme a clothing store uses
The fastest way to choose is to find two or three stores you like and see what they run. This is how we confirmed every store example above:
- Copy the store's homepage address, for example
sayathelabel.com. - Paste it into the PageFly Shopify theme detector embedded at the top of this page and click Check Now.
- Read the theme name in the result box, then open that theme on the Shopify Theme Store to see its price and presets.

A store's theme can be renamed or heavily edited, so the detector reports the theme it was built from. Treat the result as a starting point, then open the theme demo and compare.
Which theme fits your clothing business?
- New DTC apparel brand, photography-led: Blum ($170).
- Frequent drops and sales: Impulse ($500), or Space ($320) if you want fewer apps.
- Premium or luxury label: Prestige ($400) or Retina ($220).
- Story-heavy brand with a scrolling homepage: Cascade ($360).
- Tight budget but need a lookbook: Viola ($210).
- Testing an idea before spending: Horizon or Dawn (free), then upgrade.
The Theme Store's Try theme button adds a paid theme to your store to customise before you buy, so you can test two finalists with your real products and photos. For more stores to study, see our roundup of the best Shopify clothing stores.
Where PageFly fits on top of your theme
Your theme controls the header, footer, cart and default templates. PageFly is a page builder that works inside any of the themes above and lets you build the pages a theme does not give you: a lookbook landing page for a drop, a size-guide page, a product page with a shop-the-look section, or a collection landing page for a campaign. You keep your theme and add pages on top of it.

To see what that looks like, browse the PageFly template library or read how other stores structure high-performing Shopify product pages.
PageFly has a free plan, so you can build one page on your new theme before you commit. Paid plans are listed on the PageFly pricing page.
If you want to know whether a new theme or a new page actually sold more, test it. Our guide to Shopify A/B testing explains how, and current Shopify conversion rate benchmarks give you a baseline to compare against.
Last checked: 7 October 2026. Theme prices, review counts and store themes are taken from the Shopify Theme Store and from each store's live site on that date.
Shopify Themes For Clothing Stores FAQ
For most direct-to-consumer apparel brands, Blum is the best starting point: it costs $170, its developer eComX describes it as an editorial fashion theme, and it scores 99% positive across 261 reviews on the Shopify Theme Store (checked 7 October 2026). If you run frequent drops and sales, Impulse ($500, 94% positive across 1,302 reviews) has the longest track record. For a premium label, look at Prestige ($400).
They are enough to launch and test demand, but merchants rate them far lower than paid fashion themes. On 7 October 2026 Horizon and Dawn were both 35% positive and Origin was 45% positive on the Shopify Theme Store. If you start on a free theme, plan to add lookbook, shop-the-look and size-guide features with an app or a page builder such as PageFly.
Shopify Theme Store themes are a one-time purchase. The paid themes in this guide range from $170 (Blum) to $500 (Impulse). Shopify's own themes, including Horizon, Dawn and Origin, are free.
Check five things in the demo: colour swatches on product cards and product pages, a size guide next to the size picker, a shop-the-look or lookbook section, collection filters for size, colour and price, and an add-to-cart button that stays visible on mobile.
Paste the store address into the free PageFly Shopify theme detector and click Check Now. It returns the theme the store was built from, for example Blum for sayathelabel.com. Then open that theme on the Shopify Theme Store to see its price and presets.
Yes. Your products, collections, customers and orders are store data, so they stay when you switch themes. Theme settings and section content belong to each theme, so expect to rebuild your homepage and templates on the new one. Use Try theme on the Theme Store to test a paid theme with your own products before you buy.
